1. Do you think that as being gay becomes more accepted among heteosexuals, people will begin to accept the gay community and the straight mans decision to perform in a gay porn?

TV and indecency
Indecency, how does one define that term in relation to pornography? Is it someone being dressed inappropriately, or is it a scene too vulgar on television, or is it both? Any single person can define this term in relation to what they think indecency is. Many people felt that Janet Jackson’s nipple being exposed at the suberbowl was a form of indecency, forcing the station to create a delay on live TV.
What makes something that is considered indecent to some catch the public’s attention? If I was on television performing and my shirt accidentally came off, it wouldn’t create the rage that people had, creating live TV to change. I think indecency is different depending on groups, culture and maturity. If this were to happen is Europe, it wouldn’t be considered vulgar or indecent, the situation would just be blow over.

One of the facts I learned in this class that shocked me most was that boys were first circumcised to limit masturbation. At first I was always informed that circumcision was part of the Jewish religion. I also thought it was for health purposes other than to limit masturbation. When I heard this fact I was shocked, I didn’t think that male maturation was ever a problem to be discussed.
Culturally male masturbation was never frowned upon in the United States, but I can’t say the same thing about female masturbation. Females were never supposed to sexually please themselves, just their partners. So when female masturbation became more accepted, the view of the female changed. She started to have a voice and opinion. In my opinion today females are viewed as being very sexually charged. From the media to magazines women are viewed as sexual figures rather than domestic housewives as they were years ago. In some ads woman are even viewed as domestic while being sexual. Basically, over the past few decades the view on men, woman and sex has changed drastically. No longer do people have to hide their sexual preference or identity. I don’t think today that a doctor would recommend a circumcision for the same reasons they started them years ago. It would be for health purposes only.

Although this post may be completely irrelevant to what we are studying right now, I thought it was rather interesting. Today’s technology has been rapidly increasing, and one of the most rapidly changing toys is a cellular phone. Cell phones have gone from being a simple phone, to a handheld computer, camera, video camera and the mp3 player. The thing that’s great about having a phone that’s includes everything else is you don’t need to be home to accomplish everything you need. You want to go to the gym and pick up your mp3 player, you have it. You need to take a picture of your son or daughter take their first step, there’s your camera. But when do you draw the line? Is it okay for someone to be sitting at a community bus stop and take out their sidekick and start to watch porn? Obviously its not, but it doesn’t stop people. When I was recently at the DMV I witnessed a man sitting at a bench watching pornography. Kneeling over the other side was a child watching the screen. The most astonishing part of the story is the man witnessed the little boy watching the screen and laughed with his parents. This isn’t something that should be taken lightly. If pornography is being watched at places like the DMV for fun, what’s next? Not only is it disgusting but also it sends the wrong message to young children. This is just a taste of how the world is starting to view pornography, if it’s openly viewed at the DMV. People don’t realize how vulgar, offensive and inappropriate it may be when viewed at the wrong time and place.
Porn is just a fantasty? I don’t think so!
“Everyone knows that porn is just a fantasy, so no one would try to apply it in real life.” That was the myth that struck me as being the most obviously false myth out of the bunch. Not only do people try to imitate pornography, but they try to imitate other vulgar and inappropriate things as well. Why does some rape occur, where do people come up with these sexual fantasies they are so eager to achieve? The same way people think that video games make some children violent; pornography makes people act irrational. If anything the drive for someone to act out on a sexual fantasy is much more likely considering it’s a drive in the body.
“Porn is for men who sincerely appreciate the beauty of the female body”. This statement is so far fetch from true I don’t know where to begin. First off, if this was true debates and the long term bashing on the loss of respect for woman wouldn’t be occurring. Erotica is the true appreciation for not only the female body but the human body. Showing penetration does not show respect and appreciation for the female form.
Morgan
In Morgan's article he bought up a good point on what constitutes rape. Is rape just the act of forcing yourself onto another, or does it go beyond that? Well, according to Morgan rape goes well beyond the everyday person’s definition. Morgan feels rape is any violence against woman and it sets an example for the rest of society that its acceptable behavior. He made a good point on the difference between pornography and erotica.I am torn as to whether or not I agree with Morgan’s views. If an individual wants to engage in the form of sex without actually having it, i guess porn is the way to go, but could this go on with just erotica? This is where Morgan’s views can create even more debate. A person should be able to be sexually turned on without having to see hardcore porn, depicting violence against woman and degrading them. Other women see this as being powerful to the female, giving her control over something in the world.
when is porn cheating?
Lecture 22 brought up some good points on cybersex and whether or not it’s considered cheating. To bring my own opinion into the mix, I think it is cheating if you aren’t honest with your partner on what you’re doing. I don’t want to make this into a debate about relationships, but porn does affect them to a certain extent. Sex is not only a physical act but emotional as well. Most likely you’re not getting emotionally attached to your cybersex partner, but the physical aspect is still there. Also, not being honest with your partner and your sex life could hinder the relationship. Maybe pornography would help the relationship if the couple spoke about their situation. If cyberporn must be kept secret then it is cheating, if the partners are open with it, then I guess its not. It’s all dependent on the relationship and the people involved. In lecture 24 one of the major topics was celebrities and their past. Why should all celebrities have to reveal their past to their audiences? If the person is famous for being an actress, his or her sex life should not change their career, but clearly to some extent it would. For example if an actress is known as being a virgin, she might get casted the timid shy girl, instead of the seductive girl, but, she may play the seductive girl better on camera.

When I read the classes blogs, I tend to always get caught up in the same peoples entires. Whether its becuase i enjoy their, opinions, strongly disagree or just an intrigued, I always read the same ones. These blogs include Allow me to expand on that, MgsBLOG and Celebrity*Skin. These blogs always have a great tagline which draws the reader in, and the tagline usually meets the readers expectations. I think these blogs area a prime example of what the course is asking for, and how to achieve an A.
